Teach Your Dog These 5 Wildly Unique Tricks to Impress!

Teaching your dog new tricks can be a great way to bond with your furry friend, and it also helps keep them mentally stimulated and engaged. Plus, let's be real, who doesn't love showing off their dog's impressive skills to friends and family? In this blog post, I'll share five unique and fun dog tricks that are sure to impress everyone.

1. Twirl

The twirl is a fun and playful trick that can be taught in just a few easy steps. Start by getting your dog to stand facing you. Hold a treat in your hand, and move it in a circular motion around your dog's head. As your dog follows the treat with their nose, their body will naturally start to turn in a circle. When they complete the circle, give them the treat and lots of praise. Repeat this a few times, gradually decreasing the amount of circular motion with your hand and increasing the verbal cue of "twirl". Soon enough, your dog will be spinning like a pro.

2. Balance a Treat on the Nose

Teaching your dog to balance a treat on their nose is a fun and challenging trick that requires focus and self-control. Start by getting your dog to sit, and then hold a treat in your hand. Place the treat on your dog's nose and say "balance". Encourage your dog to keep their head level and still, and to resist the temptation to eat the treat. After a few seconds, say "take it" and allow your dog to gently toss the treat up into the air and catch it in their mouth. Repeat this a few times, gradually increasing the amount of time your dog can balance the treat on their nose. With practice, your dog will be able to balance all sorts of objects on their nose, from treats to toys and even small household items.

3. Ring a Bell

Teaching your dog to ring a bell is not only a fun trick, but it can also be useful for house training or letting you know when your dog needs to go outside. First, choose a bell that is safe for your dog to use, like a small jingle bell. Hold the bell in front of your dog and say "ring the bell". As soon as your dog touches the bell with their nose or paw, give them a treat and lots of praise. Repeat this a few times, gradually moving the bell farther away from your dog. Eventually, your dog will understand that ringing the bell equals getting a treat and will do it on command.

4. Say Your Prayers

Teaching your dog to say their prayers is an adorable trick that will melt hearts. Start by getting your dog to sit, and then hold a treat in front of their nose. Slowly move the treat up and towards the back of their head, so that your dog's front paws lift off the ground and they are in a "begging" position. When your dog is in the begging position, say "say your prayers" and give them the treat. Repeat this a few times, gradually adding the cue word before your dog performs the trick. With practice, your dog will be able to say their prayers on command, and you can impress your friends with their cute trick.

5. Hide and Seek

Teaching your dog to play hide and seek is not only fun, but it can also strengthen the bond between you and your dog. Start by getting your dog to stay in one room while you hide in another. Once you are hidden, call your dog's name and say "come find me". When your dog finds you, give them lots of praise and a treat. Repeat this a few times, gradually making the hiding spots more challenging. With practice, your dog will be able to find you wherever you hide and will enjoy the game as much as you do.

Teaching your dog new tricks can be a fun and rewarding experience for both you and your furry friend. With a little patience and persistence, you can teach your dog these new tricks that's sure to get a round-of-a-paws.
